I upgraded from the last iPhoto '09 to the brandnew iPhoto '11 (I know the new version confusingly also called iPhoto 9) To be exact iPhoto '09 had all current updates, and the iPhoto version I used for the first start after the update (and the obligatory conversion of the iPhoto database) was 9.1. (P.S. The highest version selectable on this page - http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html - is 9.0 at the moment)
The conversion went fine. After a first look everything seems to be in place. I could browse through my thumbnails. Only a small bit was missing: Nearly all my photos. BOOM! That was a moments I will never forget. The screen simply stays black, after double clicking on a thumbnail. In the menu 'goto photo in finder' stays grey.
Maybe a hint: In iPhoto '09 I remember to had set the preferences to:
- make one event out of every imported folder
- don't double the pictures in the iPhoto library
P.S.
I would have liked to answer your question "How many photos are in your library?", but I couldn't find this information in iPhoto.
